Requesting Teacher Recommendations
Most schools require the CURRENT Math and English teacher to submit recommendations on behalf of the student.
1) Students should approach teachers in person and politely ask if they would be willing to submit a recommendation online. 2) Once the teacher has agreed, the student should email and inform the teacher of relevant deadlines via an email sent through e-class. They should give teachers (at minimum) 2 weeks lead time. As many of these applications are due during the examination period (January), students must ask early (ie. by end of November). Teachers will not entertain recommendation requests in January. The student should CC Ms Tracy Wong in this email to their teachers so that they are aware that our office has been contacted. Otherwise, they will not be able to process the recommendation. 3) Students should follow up with teachers after 2 weeks and make sure to write all teachers a thoughtful thank you card. |
Mid-year Transcripts / Current Year GradesThe mid-year transcript will NOT be ready until after Chinese New Year. This is the same every year.
What we need you as parents to do is... 1) Contact your prospective schools and inform them that current year transcripts will be ready ~Mid February, after Chinese New Year. Yes, this is after the deadline for many schools but this is how we've always handled it and schools are aware of this fact. Still, it is courtesy as parents and students to reach out directly to the boarding schools. 2) Inform us that you will need us to send the current transcript to which schools and please include emails. We do not automatically send out Mid- year Reports. 3) Request a midyear transcript from Tracy Wong <tywong@spcc.edu.hk> **This step is important as we will not automatically generate mid-year transcripts for all boarding school applicants. |

*Students and parents do NOT get to see confidential recommendation letters from counselors or from teachers. That's the meaning of the word confidential and this is an educational industry standard. Please do not ask.
*We don't deal with outside educational consultants. If you choose to do so on your own, that is fine. We interface solely with parents, students, and school admissions office directly.
