Detailed Instructions by Country
Information for everyone:
1. Please keep us informed of all the offers you receive from every university; otherwise, we will not be able to help you with sending final transcripts and/or any issues that may arise. This information is necessary for the school’s annual report. It is also required by the school in their report to the Education Department. We also need to know about the details on any awards or scholarships that go with your university offers.
2. If you have asked teachers to write recommendations for you, please thank them again if your application process concludes successfully. The teacher recommendations are an important part of your application package, and teachers spend endless hours writing reference letters to show you off in the best light possible.
Information for UK university applicants:
1. Universities should have made their decisions about whether to give you conditional offers by March 31 or shortly after. As soon as you have received decisions from all the universities you have applied to, you need to firmly accept one offer, choose another as insurance, and then politely decline the rest by the stated deadline (usually early June). If you don’t accept your offers, you will lose your hard earned places. Watch this video tutorial by UCAS to learn how.
2. When HKDSE students get your results, it's your responsibility to inform the universities. Do so as quickly as possible and follow the instructions outlined to you by the university. IB students’ results will go straight to their designated universities through IBIS.
Information for US university applicants:
1. When you receive offers and make your decision about which offer to take, please inform all the other universities that you are politely declining them as soon as possible. This is an important courtesy, and if students delay in politely declining offers, SPCC's reputation suffers.
2. For HKDSE/IB students, when you get your results, you should send them to the university to which you have applied; if they have asked you to do so.
3. Please let me know when your universities request Final Reports (final transcripts based off your mock exams). I will arrange for them to be sent to the relevant universities.
4. Please remember that as part of your application in Common App, the school has submitted predicted grades. If your HKDSE/IB results do not meet these predicted results, every university that has admitted you can decide to withdraw their offer at this last minute.
5. As soon as you have successfully chosen your US university destination, start the visa application process immediately. The information is available at the US Consulate of Hong Kong website. While this is usually quite efficient in HK compared to other places, if you don't have a visa in time, you risk losing your place at university. Start as soon as your university has sent you an I-20 form (a US Immigration Department form for you to apply for a student visa).
6. University of California applicants: as soon as your public exams are finished, please let me know as soon as they ask you for Final Reports (Final Transcripts). Please specify that you need the documents as part of your UC application.
7. You can only accept one university place in the USA and Canada. We can only send ONE Final Transcript from the school for North American Universities.
8. Finally, please email us your standardized testing results. (eg., SAT I 1400 SATII subject tests Biology 700, Chemistry 800 ACT 34).
Information for Canadian university applicants:
1. Please keep me reminded at all times when a deadline for submitting documents is approaching.
2. Please read any letters from your universities carefully. Some universities may offer you a direct admission with no other documents or requirements. Others may make conditional offers based on your final achievements in HKDSE/IB.
Information for Australian university applicants:
1.Please email spccfurtherstudies@gmail.com to let us know as soon as you hear from any university asking for school documents.
Finally
If you have any questions at any time about your application process, please let us know. We wish all of you the best of luck with your applications and your exams.
