Oxbridge Requirements
First, you need the grades. This is the bare minimum. You have to meet Oxford & Cambridge's requirement for your chosen Subject in order to apply.
There are no exceptions to this. If you do not have the grades, your application will be disregarded from the very beginning.
IB Students: Historically, successful SPCC applicants have had a minimum IB average of 43/45. The exception to this rule would be students applying to the Maths course with a minimum of 41/45.
DSE Students: Historically, successful SPCC applicants receive a mix of 5* and 5** across all 8 subjects (or an average of 5* across the board). Subjects that relate to your chosen course should be a 5**.
Personal Statement Oxford & Cambridge admissions have stated that they do not want students who are "well rounded". They want students who have read extensively in their chosen subject, are ready to hit the ground running at University, and can contribute dynamically to tutorials.
Interviews & Tests
Interviews in the UK are a lot more academically rigorous than they are in the US. UK schools want students who can think critically, self-reflect, and most importantly, challenge the tutor in the classroom. Cambridge now requires the LNAT. Students must start preparing early for this exam.
Tests that require registration: Admissions Testing Service
Location: Hong Kong British Council

More info here. Disclaimer: If you are set on becoming a doctor and you want to ultimately live in Hong Kong, we highly recommend you study medicine in HK and not go overseas for University. From a practical standpoint, it is a more straightforward and less expensive path to becoming a doctor (especially if you plan on settling down in Hong Kong). If you study overseas, the path to becoming a doctor is longer, more expensive, and being able to practice in Hong Kong is not a guarantee.

LNAT is required for certain schools. It is your responsibility to check which schools require LNAT, and sign up on time. It is an intensive exam that requires early preparation. Some schools don't require the LNAT.

Vet, Dentistry
Exams are needed on a case by case basis.
Vet: You will need volunteer/work experience at a vet clinic or your application won't be considered. *Registered UK Schools. *Registered Schools for HK Dentistry: Historically, we haven't had any students apply to dentistry in the UK. Most of our dental students choose to stay in HK. * All Healthcare related courses funded by the NHS may require the student to carry a British or EU passport. There may also be residency requirements. |
